In August this year I set out to fly a so-called "Flyke" (flying bike) from one end of the UK to the other in aid of the JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION.
  • Departing from Land's End on 1st Aug 2009
  • A unique challenge, never previously attempted in this type of aircraft
  • 800-900 mile trip from tip to tip, estimated to take 2-4 weeks depending on weather
  • With ground crew for first 48 hours only, thereafter solo
  • Need to land every 1.5-2hrs in order to refuel at roadside petrol stations
  • Camping by night using lightweight equipment
  • Planned to fly the whole way unless poor weather forced me to cycle (with motor off, I promise!)
  • Fundraising target of £10,000 - donations welcome at www.justgiving.com/flybike
